During the US Civil War, Union POWs escape in a balloon and end up stranded on a South Pacific island, inhabited by giant plants and animals. In 1865, during the siege of Richmond, Virginia, the union soldiers POW Captain Harding, Neb and Herbert escape in a balloon during a storm with two confederate prisoners, Sergeant Pencroft and the journalist Spilett. The uncontrollable wind takes the balloon to a mysterious island in the South Pacific in the area of New Zealand. Captain Harding self-proclaims the leader of the group and they look for food; sooner they discover that they are stranded in an island. Further, they are attacked by a giant crab that becomes their first meal. Along the days, they build a shelter and finds that the island is inhabited by giant animals. A couple of days later, they find two castaways on the beach, the aristocratic Lady Mary Fairchild and her sexy niece Elena. Later they find a trunk with weapons and instruments like sextant and shelter with a journal of a man left alone in the island by pirates. When the pirate vessel arrives in the island, they are helped by Captain Nemo of the Nautilus, a submarine that had supposedly sunk in the coast of Mexico eight years ago. 印度这个国度真是神奇！你能在那里发现最现代最奢靡与最原始最卑贱的生活共存！而他们的电影也在朝着多元化深层次不断发展！
又哭了。1.5倍速加快进差不多。一度惨得看不下去。给五星真的不是因为政治正确。
看的时候多次不明白自己为什么要看，一度以为是90年代香港cult片监狱风云。
风格过于典型使得电影再好的题材都显得滑稽无趣
然而黑暗总是会过去的，只是抗争从来都不会停止——这大概也是，文艺作品需要持续表达的愤怒
为啥少一颗星呢，紧张程度还是少一些。全靠剧情支撑。印度黑暗，一点点再改变，希望我们也是。
精彩纷呈，无论是讽刺社会现状还是电影整体的视听语言，印度版熔炉，但比熔炉更加政治化
不得不说越来越多的印度电影和电视剧出现在我们的视角里了，有些电影真的值得我们导演和编剧学习。
事件是震撼的 但拍摄手法人物塑造太过于刻板流水账
太水太拖沓，求求印度人雇几个会剪片的剪辑师吧。除此之外，本片的剧情还是很扎实，整体观感竟然有点像律政剧，挺新奇的。
没找到好的翻译，观感体验很差，需要了解一下印度的背景知识才能看懂
不太理解印度的种姓制度 这不就是少数民族嘛 在中国关乎还来不及 这种迫害与歧视是我不能想象的
电影本身拍摄手法一般，胜在真实事件改编&社会意义（种姓、阶级、贫富、金钱、权力），演技也不错。
但权势者需要之时还要讨价还价地拿走它。
一部电影未必能对根深蒂固的社会顽疾产生根本的影响，但是能看到每个社会都有推动社会进步之士的坚守。开放题材限制，印度也逐渐涌现出了不少佳作。
观影过程中一直在思考为什么美国大公司的CEO都是印度人，难道我们中国人不配当苹果的、facebook、谷歌的ceo吗，我的结论是到顶尖人才这个层面拼的就不是赚钱的能力，而是内心的修为和信仰，将连数字都不识的村民和莽荒时代的警察们，那么落后的印度拍出来的，却是的印度精英的电影人。
没有人是救世主，自己才是自己的救世主。
但在人心里剔除阶层歧视还有漫漫长路。
